Eire...40 Shades of Green

July 24th: Josh Graduates as a CAT Diesel Mechanic!

July 25th: Drive Up to Sedro-Woolley

July 27th, 2009
Mom and Dad took Josh and I to the airport this (yesterday) morning and treated us to breakfast before sending us off through security on our flight to Paris, France. This was my first time riding first class and it was amazing! There was so much leg room that the chairs actually reclined into a fully lying position. We had personal TVs and were given headphones, lotion, a tote, eye covers, socks, blanket, toothbrush, toothpaste, and crazy, 3-couse, gourmet meals. A bit rich for our blood, though and got a mite sick from it.

We landed in a warm Paris and took a taxi into the city center to get some photos of the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triumph. Beautiful architecture and crazy drivers! And we made it back with plenty of time to await plane to Dublin. And we wait…

Alright, so we made it to Dublin! Josh and I both slept most of the flight over and we were able to get through security, customs, and baggage without any hitches (thank You, Lord!) A very nice taxi driver brought us to Harcourt Hotel, an old establishment just south of St. Stephen’s Green. The lobby is extravagant, but the rooms are rather plain. We are just grateful for a place to lay our heads!

We took a 2 hour nap, then went for a stroll through the Green and into the old town down Grafton Street and passing Trinity College on the way. We found Temple Bar, had a scrumptious Irish dinner, then went downstairs for some wonderful traditional music (vocals, fiddle, guitar, and accordion.)

It was slightly drizzling when we left, though the sun still popped through in spots. A rainbow fell just east of where we were walking. We contemplated trying to catch the leprechaun with his pot of gold at the end. Now we’re going to try to catch up on some sleep and hit the rest of Dublin tomorrow!
